Seven Schools Choose Inclusion for Upcoming School Year
We are thrilled to announce that we are partnering with seven additional non-public schools this upcoming school year! This partnership will ensure students at all levels of ability and disability are included and supported in general education classrooms at these schools.
The seven non-public schools are located across the country and include:
- Annapolis Area Christian School (Severn, MD)
- Divine Providence Academy (Conklin and Ravenna, MI)
- Faith Christian School (Dixon, IL)
- Immaculate Heart of Mary – St. Casimir Catholic School (Lansing, MI)
- Rehoboth Christian School (Rehoboth, NM)
- John Vianney Catholic School (Wyoming, MI)
- Thrive Leadership Academy (Highland Twp, MI)
In total, we now work with nearly seventy schools across Michigan, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, New Mexico, and Maryland to help them create inclusive communities. We praise God for the ways his Kingdom is displayed throughout these schools!
“We believe that inclusion for students at all levels of ability changes the school community for the better,” said Elizabeth Lucas Dombrowski, All Belong executive director. “It’s an honor to walk alongside these schools and to help them implement best practices that allow each of God’s kids to reach their potential.”
Each new school shared what they are looking forward to this upcoming year:
“We believe that Christian schools should be leading the effort to meet the needs of all learners, whether they struggle in school, excel academically, or anything in between. Consultants from All Belong will help us to identify the necessary resources and materials to make sure students with a variety of ability levels are included and supported at our school, as well as provide guidance and coaching to our educational support staff. We are excited to partner with the All Belong and look forward to what we can accomplish together.”
– Rick Kempton, superintendent
“At Divine Providence Academy, we believe every child deserves a ‘specialized’ education. All Belong will help us individualize our instruction for each student. There is no one size fits all education and curriculum that we utilize, but instead, we work with our students to find their own, personalized learning level. We are eager to expand our toolset with All Belong’s expertise, while maintaining the integrity of our educational standards.”
– Kendra DeYoung, principal
“It’s our desire to understand and help students with special learning and behavior needs thrive at Faith Christian….I pray that this partnership and the impact on our school community will create an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding, giving hope and assistance to parents and students with unique learning and behavior needs.”
– Linda Foster, principal
“As a school, we are always trying to make sure that we are providing our students with the best education possible and always improving how we teach every single learner in our care. We are eager to foster an atmosphere that nurtures understanding for all students, creating excitement and engagement in the content they’re learning. All Belong offers support to teachers, parents, and students to assure that we are meeting the needs of every child by taking into account their individual gifts and needs.”
– Angela Johnston, principal
“We have many students who struggle academically, physically, and socio-emotionally at Rehoboth Christian School. We want to make sure each student feels loved and welcomed at our school, as well as supported in their areas of need…Our teachers will be blessed through this partnership because they will learn new ways to teach students with higher needs in their classrooms, which in turn, will help all students learn better. When we help all students succeed and reach their potential, the Rehoboth and Gallup communities will be blessed.”
– James Holwerda, elementary principal and special education teacher
“We recognized the need to do a better job of teaching all of God’s children. All Belong’s reputation for helping educators develop techniques to reach all students regardless of ability while building inclusionary practices is outstanding. The partnership will help meet our need to deliver the highest caliber of instruction possible, thereby enhancing student learning and achievement.”
– Gregg Bruno, principal
“Thrive Leadership Academy chose to partner with All Belong because of their strong commitment to inclusive education. Our goal is to help students of all academic levels to achieve their highest potential. Our relationship with All Belong will allow us to design curriculum and assignments for each individual student. This relationship will also help us to encourage students to find their strengths and become leaders within their community. We are looking forward to seeing how God will use our partnership with All Belong to help us provide a quality and inclusive education.”
-Trina Mavin, principal
A teacher consultant will be assigned to these schools to assist with creating individualized student plans, curriculum assistance, transition plans, behavioral intervention plans, and general academic and social inclusion within the school. These new schools will also have access to our best-practice professional development sessions on Autism Spectrum Disorder, Behavior Management, Differentiated Instruction, Neurodevelopment, Restorative Justice, Bullying Prevention, Anxiety and Depression in the Classroom, as well as the option of working with our team of school psychologists to help understand and create strategies for struggling learners.
